Your use of this website is bound by these Terms of Use.

General terms

The Ngāti Hei Charitable Trust (NHCT or “we”) provides this website as a way to communicate to our Iwi Members and other interested parties (our community or “you”).   No warranties are made on availability, reliability or performance of this website, or the accuracy of the information provided on this website.

We will make best efforts to ensure that we are the copyright holder, or that we have explicit permission from the copyright holder, for all content (text, images, video etc.) posted on this website.

The website is Copyright (All Rights Reserved).  Information presented on the website cannot be reproduced in any way without the express permission of the NHCT.

Registering

You must be 18 or older to register on the website as an Iwi Member.

When you apply on the website to join the iwi registry you will be asked to provide information about you and about your whakapapa connection to the Iwi.  You will also be asked to choose a username and password for future access to the website.  You agree to keep your password private and not to disclose it to any third party.

The Ngāti Hei Iwi Registration Committee (IRC) will review your registration and determine whether you qualify to be included in the Iwi Role based on your verifiable whakapapa.  They may also contact you by phone or email for more information. Acceptance on to the Iwi Role is at the sole discretion of the IRC and you will be notified when your application has been accepted or rejected.

Restricted content

Some pages on the website are restricted to logged-in Iwi Members (iwi restricted content).   Iwi restricted content includes restricted posted content: news, stories etc. You agree to keep Iwi Restricted content confidential and not to copy or redistribute this content electronically or in a printed form.

As a logged-in approved Iwi Member you will also have access to the Iwi Member Directory page.   This searchable directory shows the community of registered Iwi Members. You agree to keep the Iwi Directory confidential and not to copy or redistribute the directory electronically or in a printed form.

Iwi Members can optionally provide their social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked-In) and these will appear in the Iwi Member Directory.  The purpose of this is to encourage networking within the iwi, and a greater understanding of who is on the Iwi Role.

It is forbidden to us the Iwi Member Directory for solicitation of any type.  If you attempt to contact other iwi members for the purpose of selling products and services you will be removed.

Posting content

Logged in Iwi Members can post comments and replies to comments on certain posts.  This feature is provided to encourage constructive feedback and discussion. You are solely responsible for the content you post.  It must not contain offensive, defamatory or retaliatory language. We have the right to remove content we feel is destructive or abusive in some way.  We do not actively moderate comments/replies. We reserve the right to determine what content can remain on the website and we will remove content that we feel is offensive, defamatory or destructive to the community.

Our right to contacting you

We observe electronic communications best practices and adhere to what is required under the New Zealand Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.

Notwithstanding, if you register as an Iwi Member we view this as providing us with “inferred consent” – and we may contact you via email, phone or print correspondence.

Removing your access

We reserve the right to withdraw your access to our website for any of the reasons mentioned above, or for any other reason where we feel your behaviour is harmful to our community.
